iPads in the California Avenue Library
by Ellen McCann

The Uniondale School District provided every student in 3rd grade with an iPad to support teaching and learning. In library, 3rd grade students selected one of the books they read this year and completed a book review to share one of their favorite reads with their class. Students wrote their reviews to try to persuade their classmates to read their book.
After their reviews were written, students used their iPads to create engaging presentations, with their book reviews as a guide. Students were taught how to navigate through the Apple presentation app called Keynote. They learned how to search for and insert photographs, insert text and use transitions to make their presentations captivating.
