Students in fourth and fifth grades at Walnut Street School have been learning about cultures around the world. During library class, students were placed in teams and assigned a computer. Each team then navigated through the CultureGram Database in order to select a country so they could learn more. After selecting a continent and country, the teams answered various questions about schools, holidays, languages and topics of their choice. They listened to the national anthem and viewed photos of famous people from their country. Students also examined maps and flags. Finally, students completed a Venn Diagram to compare life abroad with their own lives in Uniondale, NY, USA. Each team had fun presenting their new-found information to the rest of their classmates.
